The Mail add-ons

Here's just three of the many letters we received after The Mail section of Issue 234 of Power Slam was completed . . .

“When I reflect upon last year’s WrestleMania and the year that has passed in WWE, I am not excited about WrestleMania XXX. While WWE may have had a profitable year, the product has stunk, and that, in my opinion, is down to poor, nonsensical feuds and a failure to develop stories.

“Triple H has spent the majority of the last seven months hammering Daniel Bryan, and hammering home the message that Bryan is not a top-tier star. According to HHH, he’s doing “what’s best for business”. Well, surely a guy like Bryan, who has so much fan support, an obvious ability to connect with the audience and has shifted a copious amount of merchandise would be great for business. Like so much in WWE, this doesn’t make any sense.

“That brings us to WrestleMania. This year’s main event involves Randy Orton, a man who has been nondescript for 18 months and whose character hasn’t evolved in years.

“Elsewhere on the card, John Cena is fighting for his legacy against Bray Wyatt. If we are to believe Cena fears Wyatt, it would have been helpful, if Cena had shown some vulnerability. Unfortunately, that is not in Cena’s five-move repertoire.

“Meanwhile, Bray hasn’t really proved that he is a top-tier star yet, so why would Cena be fighting for his legacy on the show? Surely that happened at the last two WrestleManias when Cena battled The Rock.

“At this year’s ’Mania, I fear SuperCena will put an end to the rise of Bray Wyatt, thus making the last year irrelevant.”

“After all the criticism I hurled WWE's way for its often baffling and incredibly frustrating treatment of Daniel Bryan — the company’s hottest star and real top babyface — I will now happily eat humble pie and concede they have set the stage perfectly for Bryan to finally conquer HHH and rightly win the World title proper at WrestleMania XXX. Watching the leader of the Yes Movement close the show as champion, finally giving the fans what they wanted for months, will surely be a moment to remember.

“On another note, is anyone else finding WWE’s subtle barbs at C.M. Punk hilarious? How dare Phil Brooks not be a mark for WWE and the McMahons. Something tells me the McMahons have yet to realise just how stubborn that man is capable of being. Vince may have finally met his match.”

“Perhaps this is the cynic in me writing, but I see the John Cena/Bray Wyatt feud playing out like this: Cena will continue to mock the Wyatts' appearance and ridicule their promos while scoring singles and two-on-one handicap victories over Harper and Rowan. He will feign surprise after winning each of these matches, despite the ease with which he has defeated every other member of the active WWE roster.

“At WrestleMania, Wyatt will score a controversial, interference-laden upset victory over Cena, meaning that Cena will then exact full revenge on at least two subsequent pay-per-views. He will then terminate Daniel Bryan’s World heavyweight title reign and face The Undertaker in a Title vs. Streak match at WrestleMania XXXI. I'm almost certain this will happen.”
