A few thoughts about last Sunday's SummerSlam:

Best PPV in quite a while -- not a single boring match (not even Miz's), and all story line-relevant.

Sell-job of the night award goes to Rusev. His expressions and selling of his ankle throughout the match with Jack Swagger were great. His character is still 1980s garbage, but he carries it off well, and Lana suits him. This match was Rusev's best performance to date.

The John-Cena-non-sell-job award goes to Roman Reigns. After receiving a HUGE RKO from Randy Orton, he comes back to get the win, then jumps up and celebrates, like nothing had happened. How idiotic was that?

Stephanie was the surprise of the night. The crowd was right: she's still got it!!

Lumberjack matches are boring 99% of the time, as there's never any chance to build proper momentum. BUT Ambrose vs. Seth was probably the best one ever. Everything they do looks good: their pacing, build up and execution. These dudes are gold.

Randy Orton has to be the most boring main event wrestler. It's like he's not even trying any more. His matches are SO slow and predictable.

The Cena/Brock match was BRUTAL! I mean, those suplexes were mean and, given Cena's previous neck trouble, they can't have been healthy. That said, it was the right way to book the match, and the right way to present Brock. There's a TON of stuff they can do with him.

Kinda sad to see Cesaro being wasted at the moment. I mean, how hard is it to write a story line for a dude that is/was WAY over at WrestleMania? I just don't understand why WWE can't "mega-push" more than one guy (Reigns) at a time.

Why not build up both guys, with different story lines and opponents? It's not like they're anything alike physically or in terms of in-ring talent or character. WWE REALLY needs someone who can pull some weight in main events right now. Can't they see that?

Cesaro vs. Sheamus, Big Show, Ryback: they could've "fed" him any of those guys. And just imagine the pop that European uppercut to the face would've got, had he faced and beaten The Miz. I don't get it.

It was a great show, but I couldn't help notice a HUGE lack of main event talent.

I mean, take away Brock and Cena, and who's left? Orton is not the guy he used to be, and Reigns is nowhere near there yet.

Rollins and Ambrose are over, but aren't main event material, at least not right now.

As good as SummerSlam was, it reminded me of how much WWE, as a whole, is missing Daniel Bryan and C.M. Punk -- and, in general, fresh talent at the top of the card. The fall is gonna be tough for WWE.

I really liked SummeSlam. Everything about it was enjoyable. But special mention must go to Rusev. His sell-job while he was winning the match with Jack Swagger was fantastic.

Also, I think putting the gold back on Paige is the right move. There are more ways to go with the belt with Paige as champion.

As for the main event . . . Just great. Brock should have been booked like that when he first returned and faced Cena. His Undertaker-style sit-up and maniacal laugh were brilliant.

Along with many others, I was thrilled to see Brock Lesnar decimate "Goldenballs" John Cena at SummerSlam . . .

Along with many others, I revelled in the prolonged, one-sided beat-down of the normally no-selling, kayfabe killer . . .

Along with many others, I will regret this whole episode come WrestleMania season next year!

WrestleMania XXXI will be all about Cena's redemption against Lesnar, and his quest to equal the number of World title reigns with Ric Flair. This will overshadow everything else from January to the end of March next year. You just know that 'Mania will close with a victorious John Cena celebrating his 16th World championship after powering out of Lesnar's kimura and kicking out of two or more F5's en route.

SummerSlam doesn't seem like it was so much fun any more.

Though some may think it was the correct decision to green-light Brock Lesnar to end The Undertaker's undefeated Streak at WrestleMania XXX and then go on to capture the WWE World Heavyweight title from John Cena at SummerSlam, I couldn't disagree more.

Had Lesnar beaten Big Show cleanly at Royal Rumble this year, without any tainted chair assault, had come extremely close to beating 'Taker, only to lose to, say, a desperation Hell's Gate, and had still gone on to beat Cena at SS, Lesnar would still have been a believable, dominant champion, and 'Taker's Streak would have still been intact; in other words, a win-win situation.

Nothing will ever change my mind: Undertaker's WrestleMania Streak should never have been broken.

I was pleasantly surprised by what took place at SummerSlam.

The main event was worth the £14.95 alone: Lesnar absolutely decimated WWE's golden boy. We were promised a Cena annihliation, but in no way did I see this coming. I expected a similar battle to that which occurred at Extreme Rules in 2012.

The match was off the scale, and quite dissimilar to any I've witnessed on WWE television. Cena took an absolute pounding and had very little offence. You have to give WWE credit for booking Cena the way it did. I can't believe anyone saw this coming.

I've watched the match back a few times now, and the way Lesnar manhandled Cena was frightening. You could say it was more real-life than sports entertainment.

Of course, the question now is, who takes the belt from Lesnar? Will he hold it all the way to WrestleMania? I highly doubt it. Not with his part-time schedule. However, after watching Ambrose and Rollins produce a quite magnificent main event match on Raw, it's clear that WWE doesn't need a full-time champion to entertain the masses -- not if these two guys are anything to go by.

Overall, I must admit that while SunmerSlam did exceed my low expectations, it was not as good as last year's excellent effort. SummerSlam 2013 had three top matches (C.M. Punk vs. Lesnar being my pick for the 2013 Match Of The Year).

This year, the under card was passive. Rollins vs. Ambrose was match of the night, due to the crowd reaction and excitement. Both have the ability to pull off a great feud build-up.

I was glad that Paige regained the Divas title from 'frenemy' A.J. Lee, who has had a dreadful babyface run since her return. How is A.J. likeable at all? Paige, meanwhile, is the future of the Divas division. (Don't tell my wife Judy I wrote that!)

Hogan's appearance was a welcome surprise -- until he rambled on like a cheap salesman on a low-end Freeview channel with his shameless plug for the failing Network. ZZZZZzzzz.

I was annoyed that WWE allocated so much TV time and a PPV slot to Stephanie vs. Brie, who had the worst match of the year and an even worse feud. Please WWE, do us all a favour and fire both talentless Bella sisters.

The main event was hyped to the moon and was more a series of stop/start offence from Brock than a match.

I am not happy with the way Cena was treated as a 1980s jobber. I'm no Cena fan, but where can Brock go from here? Many will not believe that his upcoming opponents will beat him: he was just too dominant against Cena at SummerSlam.

When Lesnar is finally toppled, I hope it's by Daniel Bryan, and not the over-pushed, over-hyped, overrated, no-talent, two-move wonder that is Roman Reigns.

Thank you kindly.
