Power Slam's WrestleMania XXX Predictions

Power Slam has published an extensive WrestleMania XXX preview in Issue 234, now on sale in shops across the U.K. and Ireland, and available for all digital devices. In this companion piece, we predict the winners of the WM XXX matches. Here goes . . .

Fatal Four Way for the WWE tag team title

Power Slam prediction: The Usos will retain the belts. If Jack Swagger and Cesaro are separating, something consequential will happen between them in the match, leading to a proper split on Raw the next night. It was entirely predictable that WWE would not be able to find time for this match on the four-hour pay-per-view show.

The Shield vs. Kane and The New Age Outlaws

PS prediction: The Shield will win an eight-minute match.

Will the match be any good? It should be respectable, at worst. The Shield are one of WWE’s most consistent acts between the ropes, and have looked sharper than ever this year. This match will reveal if The Shield are sticking together as babyfaces or splitting. We think it will be the former. We hope so because we’re running a feature on The Shield in Issue 235 of Power Slam, and it’s going to be a lot easier to write it, if The Shield remain a unit after WM.

Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal

PS prediction: WWE has conditioned us to believe that Big Show will win — which means he won’t. Alexander Rusev is our choice for last man standing, assuming he is entered, of course. We believe Rusev will participate because his push will commence this month.

Will the match be any good? It will pass quickly. There’s a lot of expendable talent in the match who will be hurled rapidly, leaving Show, Sheamus, Ziggler and Rusev to slug it out at the end.

Vickie Guerrero Divas Championship Invitational (champion A.J. Lee vs. Naomi, Cameron, Bellas and nine others)

PS prediction: We would like to see main stage newcomer Emma win. No idea if she will.

Will the match be any good? It will probably be a rush-job blur, as these multi-women matches on WWE pay-per-views usually are.

Triple H vs. Daniel Bryan

PS prediction: Bryan will win a lengthy, hard-fought match, but stagger out with a story line injury in order to hamper him in the main event and make his second performance of the evening seem even more heroic.

Will the match be any good? Yes. Very good. Perhaps even excellent. The crowd heat should be at the top of the scale.

John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt

PS prediction: Wyatt will win, with help from Erick Rowan and Luke Harper.

Will the match be any good? It has to be an improvement on Cena’s ham-handed, slow-mo matches with Rowan and Harper on Raw. Fans will amuse themselves by booing Cena and cheering the bearded loon. Wyatt will kick out of the AA, following which Cena will feign shock and awe, as if it has never happened before in history. There will be a commotion at the end, leading to the cheap Wyatt win.

The Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar

PS prediction: There can be only one winner. We hope they can create an element of doubt over the outcome before the inevitable occurs.

Will the match be any good? Undertaker has worked a killer match at WrestleMania every year since 2007. He intends to extend his match of the night streak Sunday. This should be the best thing on the show.

WWE World heavyweight champion Randy Orton vs. Batista vs. Daniel Bryan

PS prediction: Bryan will overcome seemingly insurmountable odds – including a run-in by HHH, eventually thwarted by Vince McMahon – to win the title.

Will the match be any good? It could be one of those bizarre Cena-type matches in which the fans take over, at least temporarily. Orton and Batista will be booed and then perhaps ignored as spectators wait for a beaten-down Bryan to recover from near-death at ringside and return to the action. The success of the match and the entire show, “quite frankly”, is dependent upon Bryan winning — and winning convincingly.

Overall: Should be an exciting show.
